Keene Beauty Academy’s Cosmetology program consists of 1500 hours of training. The objective of our program is to develop knowledge and skills in all areas of cosmetology. Topics that will be covered include:

The objective of our training unit is to insure that our students develop the interpersonal skills professional attitude and thorough understanding of the mechanics of how a top quality salon operates. Topics include:

  • Personal development

School Facilities, Student Kit & Equipment
The school is designed with classrooms for academic studies, workshops, clinic areas, teacher's offices, a client reception area, student lounge, and locker room. Students may purchase a kit of professional tools and texts from Keene Beauty Academy. Each kit contains all the items the student will need for his or her education.

Training Hours
Our program of study is approved by the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences, the New Hampshire State Board and the U.S. Department of Education. According to the requirements of the New Hampshire State Board of Cosmetology (and states with reciprocal agreements), the student must complete 1,500 hours of training in the following areas:

  • Personal Development, Ethics, Conduct - 25 hours
  • Bacteriology, Sanitizing - 100 hours
  • Shampooing - 50 hours
  • Hair Analysis, Scalp Treatments - 75 hours
  • Skin Care, Facial Massage - 100 hours
  • State Laws, Rules & Regulations - 10 hours
  • Tests - 30 hours
  • Textbook Theory - 150 hours
  • Unassigned - 25 hours
  • Hair Styling, Blow Drying - 200 hours
  • Hair Shaping & Related Designing - 150 hours
  • Hair Color - 155 hours
  • Permanent Waving & Straightening - 165 hours
  • Manicuring - 20 hours
  • Business Management & Salesmanship - 45 hours
  • Applied Science - 200 hours
